Those still aren't compressed file folders. I'm not sure if I'm using 7-zip right, but I changed the files so that they are opened in 7-zip, but when I go to open the file, a small box pops up and closes itself quickly. Although if 7-Zip can't open it, I'm not sure if the "Compressed Folders" tool built into Windows Explorer will be able to open it either.
But the way to restore the association to the built-in zip handler is in the registry. Rather than making a manual edit, I'd recommend going to this page and downloading the file for "zip" compressed folders last one in the list. Run that and it will make the registry edit, and the changes don't even require a reboot. That page is for Windows 7, but for compatibility these associations work in Windows Vista, 8, 8.
Its the one on the right. The registry file you downloaded only fixes. And I think you got it nearly perfect, but you need to set it to open with 7-Zip instead of the "7-zip console". Technically your console is working, but command prompt windows don't hang out after the program is done running, so as soon as it opens the file, you're seeing it flash and disappear.
If you click that again and look in the same place, there should be another program in the 7-zip folder that isn't the console version.
I bet that gets you fixed up instantly. The "choose default apps by file type" where your screenshot is. And the file you want to associate it to instead of 7-zip console, is " 7zFM. I'm running Windows Is my Windows 10 different than yours for some reason, or?

I accidentally put my. The ones I already had downloaded are opened in "Windows Explorer". However, I try to change the default app to this but I cannot locate Windows Explorer" in the default apps. Is there a way to change it so that the files open the way they used to before I accidentally changed the default app? Or is there a way to make the default app Windows Explorer? Download the zip file from the website, and be sure to give it a name that ends with the right letters like. Then right-click the saved file and set it to open with the 7-zip program.
